Martin Luther King Jr. is an inspirational role model. Not only was he an inspiration to his nation, he was an inspiration to the world. He was a leader. His actions gave black and poor people hope. He believed that all black and white people can live together equally and in harmony. Even though what you believe might not be possible, the result in the end is not what’s important, it is what you did to get to the results; either the results are good or bad. Many of you have heard “One person can make a difference”. Some people disagree about this, in the other hand, other people agree. There are many individuals that have made a difference. The people that I think had an impact on the world are Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. Martin Luther King Jr. relates to my previous post: Freedom of Speech. He had plenty freedom of speech. As I have stated before, he believed that black and white people should be equal. He was not stopped when saying his opinions about this. In fact one of his speeches “I Have a Dream”, which took place in August 28, 1963 in front of the Lincoln Memorial, became very well known. Moreover, it was during the March of Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

”Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

Faith is something that everyone should have. First of all, to me, faith means when you have trust, confidence, and belief in a person, thing, or idea. To some people faith means the belief in God, or in a teaching of religion. But what if you don’t believe in God? Does that mean you don’t have faith? I personally think that you don’t HAVE to believe in God to have faith. Of course, if you do believe in God then you do have faith. But does it make sense if you say it vice versa? Today, I read a story in spanish class that relates to faith. It was about this old guy that had a farm and a family. There was no rain in a long time, therefore his crops were going to die. Then one day, his crops are destroyed. He has a lot of faith and decides to write a letter to God asking for help and to send him 100 pesos. It got to the mailing office and a worker showed the letter to his boss, who was a very kind man. So he decided to send him money and he signed it, God. When the old man received the money, he found 60 pesos. He quickly sent back a letter to “God” and wrote that there was 40 pesos missing, so he told him not to send the rest of the money by mail because the mail men are thieves. I think this man was very faithful and truly believed in God. First of all, you can’t send a letter to God. You would have to have a lot of faith to be able to literally write a letter to God, and deliver it in the post office. In the end, he did get money, so I think faith is very important. In my opinion, when he says “faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase”, he means that just have faith, even though you don’t know what the results will be. Always have faith no matter what.

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

“Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
